Phifer’s commitment to the environment dates back to the company’s origins when our founder, Reese Phifer, envisioned a manufacturing facility that would bring a better standard of living to its community, advances in technology to its industry and innovative products to its customers.

Today, Phifer is the world’s leader in the manufacture and sale of energy saving sun control fabrics for both the residential and commercial markets. Phifer has no less than 20 branded products that offer a broad range of options to reduce solar heat gain, preserve interior surfaces and materials, improve the quality of home and work environments and protect natural resources by conserving energy. Phifer has also introduced lines of sun control fabrics and designed fabrics for outdoor furniture that are 100 percent recyclable. These PVC-free fabrics are generated from a core yarn that is born out of post-industrial waste by-product, which lends itself to repeat recyclability for continued sustainability.

In 2002 the Alabama Department of Environmental Management nominated Phifer for the Governor’s Conservation Achievement Award, and the Alabama Wildlife Federation selected Phifer as the Air Conservationist of the Year. Phifer was the first manufacturer in our industry to achieve GREENGUARD® certification. This rigorous evaluation of our interior shading fabrics is completely voluntary and ensures that the highest industry standards are being applied to maintain indoor air quality for the health and safety of building occupants.
